According to the Jan 25 Concord Monitor, the Iowa results tallied this way.
41 Bush
30 Forbes
13 Keyes
9 Bauer
5 McCain
1 Hatch
I think it is important to look at some facts the leftist media will slant away from.
Bush won, but the centrist/liberal position lost.
Bush, the media and the Republican machine managed only 41% of the Republican vote. Those holding conservative positions, Forbes, Keyes and Bauer took 52% of the vote. After the millions of $$$ that the centrist regime threw at Iowa, they could not get a majority of their own party's support. A quick comparison of the $$$ per vote spent by the Bush machine, and the cents per vote by Keyes supporters should leave the Republican elite in a stew.
The fact that their ideology, backed by "the system" and the media, couldn't win even 2 of the top 4 spots should be a wake-up call, but it does not seem to be working. Their second choice, McCain came in at only 5%, just over half of Gary Bauer's return of 9%, but, how do the headlines read? VICTORY FOR BUSH. It's just another media lie.
The ideological split in this vote is a clear victory for conservatism: Bush and McCain, 46%; Forbes, Keyes, and Bauer, 53%. If you boil it down to a 2 man race between Bush and either Forbes or Keyes, Bush is no longer the big winner, he is the big loser. That has to have a few folk sweating at the centrist/liberal RNC. Let's hope they get the message.
