PATRIOT ALERT!

Trumpet America Under Attack!

Accompanied by my immediate supervisor, I was just hauled into the office of one the intermediate bosses at the large government agency where I work, with all the pomp and circumstance normally reserved for the arrest of one of the FBI's ten-most-wanted, and told to stop posting the truth online here at Trumpet America. Oh, this particular chief didn't say it quite so clearly (sadly today, many gov’t minions do not have a good command of the English language) - rather, he said that HIS boss was upset, wondered angrily why some OTHER way had not been found to communicate 'the problem' through 'official channels,' and etcetera and politispeak and blah blah blah - but he got the message across, which was:

THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T WANT ME TO POST THE TRUTH ONLINE

Let that sink in a minute...

Go back and re-read the lines above from the start; think of the implications, the ramifications and the effects on us, our families, our nation and our society of liberty-minded citizens, were the gov’t to have us stop sharing the truth amongst ourselves and with all who would hear it...

Better brush up on your Marx and your Hitler; add a dash of McCarthy, and smidgen of Schwarzenegger:

"My relationship to power and authority is that I'm all for it...People need somebody to watch over them...Ninety-five percent of the people in the world need to be told what to do and how to behave." (Arnold, speaking frankly)

Now, a few things come to mind: 1) the text that upset this gov’t beast is both factually accurate and of public record, so really, there is nothing 'wrong' with me posting it, either legally or ethically; 2) I myself specifically am not under contractual or judicial restraint concerning the sharing of any particular information in any general way, beyond common courtesy and privacy; and 3) whether the material is fact or fiction, I have (still, we hope, and we will see in the coming weeks and months) the Constitutional right to share it with others, so long as I don't commit slander or libel.

Those of you who know me and the Trumpet America website know that I try to post material of socio-political interest that is clear, concise and articulate; the intent of this site is to inform readers as amply as possible, within the limits and conditions I have, and to make them THINK, so that, hopefully, we as a People will arrive at intelligent and effective consensual decisions - and, as much as possible, compassionate decisions - regarding our public affairs and governance. I often post material with which I do not agree wholly or in part, because it is informative or gently provocative; I do that, because I trust that a Greater Good is served by my doing so. I am not so arrogant as to believe that only the texts and opinions I like are necessarily the 'best' way of approaching matters; I try to remain humble (the last time I checked, I didn't have "deity" stamped on my forehead).

What is revealing and disturbing is that, rather than rejoice in being informed on a given subject, and so be all the better prepared to act positively and effectively to make things better, these govt bureaucrats prefer to kill the messenger; these men and women, sworn to uphold our Constitution (the Second Greatest Text Ever Written) and the principles of freedom, integrity and courage inherent in its lines, representative of a self-determining, intelligent and great people, choose rather to slaughter one of the lowliest among them, a lone Patriot, who took his oath seriously and continues to do so, who acts - imperfectly, mortally, yet always in good faith - for the betterment of the land and the nation he loves, its heritage, and its promise.

Patriots! Dear Patriots! I call on you now, help me! Shield my family from further harm as the Beast strikes! Protect my faithful wife (a minority immigrant, for those who would call me racist), my wonderful young sons (excellent students, musicians, writers, attending poor schools, for those who would call me a rich elitist), I cannot do it alone! Summon the resources at your command, your words, your acquaintances, your legal skills. I have lost my job; please help me not to lose more. For The Oppressors, The Tyrants, will shake this single Defiant Minuteman in their jaws until broken, and scatter His Posterity to the winds, if permitted.

It is a tragedy in the making...

Say "No!"

Say "Not This One! - Not This Time!"

And take concrete action to help.

You are a writer. Echo this call in your coming texts. Use "Trumpet America" as an example of the growing number of independent websites providing news & discourse for concerned citizens. Use my name, William Breathitt Gray, profusely, make it well-known, give it the fame that only you can, with your talent and your audience. I seek not fortune. Trumpet America is my civic contribution; it is not my intent to profit from such work. I hope only that your skillful and loving umbrella protects those dear to me.

I will find other employment; that is of little concern. My real fear is that The Enemy will hound me to the detriment of my family...

BUT THEY WILL NOT! if they see you arrayed with me, at the ready.

To arms! Patriots! To arms!

*** Editor’s Note: The following article is not presented in it’s entirety for the sake of space. It IS worth reading and I am hoping that what is presented here will pique your interest and lead you to emailing the author at ceo@freedomscry.us to ask for the complete article.

Section headings in the complete work include Principles of Freedom; The Foundation - Individual Rights, not the Common Good; A Right to Liberty – To Be Let Alone; There Can Be No Liberty Where Property Can Be Taken Without Consent; A Right To Defend; A Right To Justice – Due Process of Law; Government Limited By Law; and The Separation of Competing Powers

*** Principles of Freedom ***

There is a phrase to which I refer frequently that I am often asked to define more specifically, and in order to accomplish that task more completely than a simple conversation will generally allow, I’m going to use this forum to answer at least in basic part those questions. I often refer to the principles of freedom or the underlying principles on which the Founders relied when forming this nation and writing the Constitution. I often refer to them as the basis of an objection to some proposed legislative agenda, or as the reason I refuse to comply with certain regulations made without proper authority. The Question then that I’m often asked is this: what are the principles of freedom? Here’s a quick summary, but hold the hate mail… it’s not exhaustive, I’m sure.

** The Foundation - Individual Rights, not the Common Good

The most fundamental principle upon which all others must rest is that the rights of the individual are preeminent. All rights in fact are individual rights, and there is no recognition of “collective rights” in any of the foundational documents of this nation. The notion of collective rights itself is flawed, and based upon a theory of socialism: that the good of the community must be superior to the rights of the individual. The principles of freedom however are directly inverse to such a proposal. Socialism and freedom are simply incompatible because of this basic opposition of fundamental elements of their ideological basis. A close examination of the founding documents of this nation reveals an oft repeated thread of the intent to retain and protect individual rights and liberties, and no recognition at all of any collective rights. At most there exists multiple instances of groups of people exercising their individual rights together, but that does not make those rights collective. Government exists for the purpose of protecting individual rights such as life, liberty, and property through limiting the powers and exercise of powers of government by law, and through protecting those rights by establishing a right to justice and due process of law, and by creating a separation of powers and conflicting branches of government. The rest of this article will address the rights that are protected, and the means of protecting them established as the fundamental principles of freedom.

In the words of Samuel Adams…

"Among the natural rights of the colonists are these: first, a right to life; second, to liberty; third, to property; together with the right to support and defend them in the best manner they can. These are evident branches of ... the duty of self-preservation, commonly called the first law of nature. All men have a right to remain in a state of nature as long as they please; and in case of intolerable oppression, civil or religious, to leave the society they belong to, and enter into another.... Now what liberty can there be where property is taken away without consent?"

** Principle # 1 A Right to Life

While perhaps it may seem that the Founders got a bit simplistic here, it is important that the right be stated as such. Without a right to life, summary executions without cause could negate any and all other rights. The right to justice and due process of law recognized later in this article will go into more detail on this issue, but the fact that the right to life is a fundamental principle – and a clearly stated one – is essential to an understanding of freedom. What (beyond the obvious) does a right to life change in government? Let’s look at the Principle in application.

* An Application of the Principle:

In some nations, such as China, I believe, laws exist which compel that a family may have only a certain number of children. Such legislation is passed for the “good of the community” because of an overpopulation problem – either real or perceived – based upon a fundamental principle of socialism discussed earlier. The right to life however would be at odds with such legislation.

The Right to Life also prevents execution without Due Process of Law. The standards imposed for the abrogation of this right must be met before any execution can take place. While this seems simple enough, a closer review of our nations history shows that even here in the US, there have been evils which directly affect this right. The Right to life – properly enforced – is designed to prevent instances like what occurred on Ruby Ridge, where a summary execution of a tax protester and his family by a team of government snipers occurred. The Right to Life is also implicated directly when the government does things like assault a church (even if it’s a disgusting cult) with military force and burn to death dozens of US Citizens when there’s not so much as a search warrant to authorize the governments entry onto the property. These are the evils which the right to life is designed to prevent, and it is highly unfortunate that the guilty parties in those cases mentioned above are not facing an enforcement of the right to justice and thus the death penalty. It’s even more despicable that some of the guilty leaders in those instances would dare to run for public office after disgracing the nation in such a manner.
