``Regardless of how it comes out, whoever is sworn in as president on January 20th should have the support of all the people'' -- Vice Prevaricator
If he is sworn in, he will not have the support of all of the people. If GW is sworn in HE will not have the support of ALL of the people. No president has ever had the support of ALL of the people of this or any other country. But in the dream world in Gore's mind he is convinced that if he can defy the electoral system and force his way into the presidency through the courts, he will have the support of ALL of the people.
Further evidence that Gore is out of touch with reality is his insistence that he still has a 50-50 chance of winning. Whether his calculations are based in the spin that the public media are trying to attach to his losses in the US Supreme Court and Leon County, or are based in his well known "fuzzy math", it is clear evidence that he is in a dream world. The state certified vote has been signed, sealed and delivered. Florida's twenty-five Bush electors have been certified and recorded in the National Archives. There have only been four times in history that multiple slates of electors have been sent to Washington. In all four cases the slate of electors certified by the state's governor where chosen by Congress. Only in a dream world could Gore say that he has a 50-50 chance.
Gore says that his defiance of the electoral system is based in the "will of the people". If that is true, he needs to shut up and sit down. The voters in Florida cast more votes for GW Bush. The first count and the automatic recount both indicated that the will of the people had selected Bush. The polls that determined Gore's every word during the campaign are now saying he should end his challenge. Isn't that what he considers "the will of the people"? If he is being driven by the will of the people, why has he found it necessary to isolate himself from even his high level advisors? Simply because a few of them are listening to the people and the polls and understand it is time to call it off and save enough dignity to be able to run for some other political office in the future. Gore isn't considering a future run for anything, however. He knows that he is in a dream world and that if and when he wakes up, it is all over.
The Vice Prevaricator has said he just wants all of the votes counted, but all of his efforts now are to keep votes from being counted. Only in a dream world can you have it both ways. He wants to count all of the almost votes in the Democratic counties and reject the clear votes with a number filled in late because of a computer error in the Republican counties. Only in Al Gore's dream world can such a rationale make sense.

"It's right there in the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, passed in 1933," explained Gillers.
"On Jan. 6, Congress is supposed to count the electoral votes and pick a president. But if, in the language of the amendment, it decides that no one has yet 'qualified' for the job, it can pass a law 'declaring who shall then act as President....until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.'
"Surely," said Gillers, "Bill Clinton would be willing to stay on for a few weeks."

"Al Gore is contesting the Presidential election not from clawing ambition, his spinners tell us, but because he has divined that he really won. Maybe so. A mind that can count a dimpled chad as a vote is capable of believing about anything. Mr. Gore's professed high-mindedness would be easier to credit, though, if it were not washed in the casual attitude toward the truth that we have come to expect from the author of no controlling legal authority, the Buddhist Temple fund-raiser and the iced tea defense." --Wall Street Journal
``The constitutional crisis is created by the judicial activism of the Florida Supreme Court. And it is, indeed, necessary for the Legislature to set that straight. If the Florida State Legislature were to send up electors for Gore, we would accept that. But we do not see any place in the Constitution or the law where it says the judiciary selects the electors.'' - House Majority Leader Dick Armey, R-Texas, on ``Fox News Sunday.''
"Find out just what the people will submit to and you will have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress." --Frederick Douglass
"Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom, and then lost it, have never known it again." --Ronald Reagan
"Whenever the people are well-informed, they can be trusted with their own government; whenever things get so far wrong as to attract their notice, they may be relied upon to set them to rights." -Thomas Jefferson
(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the non-partisan government watchdog, today praised Judge N. Sanders Sauls for his judicious conduct during the Gore election contest trial. Judicial Watch also noted that the court's ruling was soundly based on the facts presented to him over the past two days of testimony. Judicial Watch representatives were present in person during the proceeding, having been granted official observer status by Judge Sauls last week. Judicial Watch also made submissions in the case to try to ensure a fair and honest adjudication.
"Judge Sauls' ruling will, in large measure, be difficult for Gore to overturn. Much of his ruling hinged on the evidence Judge Sauls heard in person. Any higher court is thus likely to give Judge Sauls' analysis of the evidence great deference. Importantly, the witnesses presented by the Gore legal team did not have sufficient knowledge of many facts relevant to their case," stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman. (Mr. Klayman was present in Judge Sauls court room during the trial.)
"I think both sides can agree, Judge Sauls handled this historic dispute with a demeanor that brings credit to the judiciary," continued Mr. Klayman.
Judicial Watch was granted access to Palm Beach county's ballots last week under Florida law and pursuant to a court order. Johnson Lambert & Co., a public accounting firm with expertise both in counting ballots and in detecting fraud, is helping oversee the Judicial Watch effort. A preliminary report of the firm's analysis, reported by Robert Novak today, is available on Judicial Watch's Internet site at www.judicialwatch.org. This report was also offered to the court for consideration.
"As this matter remains an issue of public controversy, Judicial Watch will continue to evaluate the disputed ballots in Florida. We are scheduled to inspect Broward County's ballots on Thursday, December 7," stated Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

On Friday, the Times said Gore has winnowed his close advisory circle to just a few people -- mostly his wife and daughter, running mate Lieberman and his wife, and perhaps William Daley. He has done so because he doesn't want to hear from anyone that he should concede because he has lost this election.
Former advisers in the Times report described a surreal and manic situation in the inner Gore circle that borders on insanity. Gore is so obsessed with his own personal power trip that he refuses to consider defeat, concession, or a 2004 presidential bid.
The Times characterized Gore's behavior as very rational, considering the situation.
"One result is that Mr. Gore is forging forward, driven by his conviction, unchallenged by those around him, that he is the rightful winner. He has no exit strategy because he has not considered conceding," the Times said.
I have a different view. I think Gore's behavior is more akin to that of a man so crazed in his quest for power that he has become hopelessly irrational and is now bordering on mental incapability. If anyone other than Gore was behaving this way in this election, the liberal media and academia establishments would be openly calling for straitjackets.
Witnessing Gore's behavior and watching others who are supposed to be educated defend his unbalanced demeanor is indicative of the whole of institutional liberalism.

Now, as noted by The Federalist last week, Gore's best shot at stealing this election depends on a reversal of strategy. Previously, his mantra has been "Count all the votes [in Democrat counties]!" (Except, of course, those military ballots....) The new mantra is "Don't count all the votes [in Republican counties]!" Gore is now anxiously awaiting a judge's ruling on a suit to disqualify 15,000 absentee ballots in largely Republican Seminole County -- which would give Gore a 4,800 vote lead in Florida.
